Vihan stood in his pajamas and stared at the empty space on his dresser.

He dropped his schoolbag. The zipper clattered on the floor.

A tiny white thread led behind the laundry basket.

He tugged it. *Snick.* A narrow gap opened behind the basket.

Vihan crawled through and landed in a world of folded towels and glowing buttons.

A polka-dot sock hopped past wearing a thimble as a hat.

A tiny drumbeat of button-caps echoed from somewhere ahead.

His twin red socks were line-dancing on a washcloth stage!

They spun, kicked, and dropped — then sprang right back up without missing a beat.

One sock hopped over and bumped his knee.

Vihan joined the socks in a wobbly three-step dance.

The socks spun him until he was dizzy and laughing.
