Mia flipped back her blanket. “Mom! Teddy is missing!”
Mom knelt beside Mia. Together, they peered beneath the bed.
Mia reached past a dusty slipper. Beep beep! A toy car bonked Mom’s foot.
They pulled the curtains apart. Swish! The fabric curled around them like a cape.
Only the sunny windowsill waited. Mia spotted a blanket lump near her pillow.
Mia lifted one blanket corner. “Found you!” she told Mom.
Mia hugged Teddy close. Its fuzzy ear brushed her cheek.
Mia hugged Mom on the bed. The curtains fluttered softly.
