Every house, tree, and person in town looked exactly the same. Pip grabbed a bright crayon.

Scratch-scratch! Pip drew a giant purple swirl across the square. New color curled over the gray stones.

Pip added a blue door, a yellow sun, and a zigzag path. CLANG! The town bell rang.

Pip tucked the crayon behind Pip’s back. Then Pip took one small step and drew a red balloon.

The red balloon lifted off the wall! It bobbed above the rooftops. Pip gasped. “Again!” shouted the town.

Pip climbed onto the fountain and drew a rainbow. Sparkling colors sprayed across the square.

Plip-plop! Paint dripped from the fountain. One by one, every person picked up a crayon.

Pip hopped down. Crayons rolled, bells rang, and new colors raced toward every house.
