Nicholas and Christmas

Nicholas walked through the old town. His coins made a happy sound.

A man asked for help. Nicholas walked past him.

A little boy wanted a coin. Nicholas shook his head no.

Nicholas found a cold woman and her small child.

He gave his last coin to her. Her hands shook.

The coin began to glow. It glowed bright and warm.

The coin rose up. It floated like a little star.

Nicholas watched the star fly away. He smiled.
